Florida Winter Weekend Folk Dance Weekend – Jan 31-Feb 3, 2020 at the Ramada Gateway Kissimmee in Kissimmee. Teachers are Tineke van Geel (Armenian) and Maurits van Geel (Causcasus, Roma). Info at: folkdance.org.
Laguna Festival (2020 is their 50th Annual) – The 2020 Festival takes place in Laguna Woods, California March 6-8, and feature Yves Moreau (Bulgarian) and Aaron Alpert (Israeli), with special appearances by Tom Bozigian and Lee Otterholt. Website.
San Antonio Folk Dance Festival, March 13-15, 2020 (the 62nd year) – is held on the beautiful campus of Our Lady of the Lake University. Details, lodging & registration flyer are here. The 2020 festival features Ventzi Sotirov (Bulgarian), Franklin Houston (Balkan), Andy Taylor-Blenis (international, Scottish and Mexican), and Lee Otterholt (international).
Manitoba International Folk Dance Workshop, March 20-21, features three local dance teachers: Patti Cohen will teach a mix of international dances, Slavica Maric will teach Serbian dances and Gina Chodirker will teach Israeli dances. You can see the workshop brochure here.

Lyrids Folk Dance Festival – Held in Vancouver, BC, Canada, April 24 – 26, 2020. The 2020 weekend features Tineke and Maurits van Geel teaching Armenian and Roma dances from different countries, mixed with some international top hits. lyridsfolkdancefestival.org.
International Folkdance Camp (IFC) – Held each May at Hopewell Junction, New York at Circle Lodge on scenic Sylvan Lake (90 mins north of New York). Run by co-directors Joan Hantman, Murray and Randi Spiegel, the camp features internationally acclaimed teachers. Camp dates for 2020 are May 8-10, 2020, with Caspar Bik (dances of Black Sea countries), Steve Kotansky (Balkan) and Moshe Eskayo (Israeli), music with MerakKef Express. IFC-NY.com.
Ontario Folk Dance Camp – Takes place at the University of Waterloo in the heart of Mennonite country west of Toronto. The 2020 (the 62nd) camp is May 15-18, 2020, with teachers Lucia Cordeiro (Brazilian), Vlasto Petkovski (Macedonian). Info: website.
June Camp – International folk dance weekend in the upper Midwest (over 60 years old). May 28-31 at Trinity International University, in Deerfield, IL, in the north suburbs of Chicago. Featuring: Lee Otterholt with mostly Balkan Dances, with additional instruction by Penny Brichta, Israeli Dances. And nightly dance parties to the live music of Tom Pixton, Ralph Iverson, and Brian Wilson, of the Pinewoods Band. Info: website
Stockton Folk Dance Camp – The Granddaddy of all Camps, certainly the oldest. Information about Stockton Folk Dance Camp held in Stockton, California, in late July/early August can be found at folkdancecamp.org. 2020 will be the 73rd Camp. Six to eight teachers, two consecutive weeks – attend one week or both.
Ti Ti Tábor Hungarian Folk Camp – This week-long camp is held at the All Saints Center, Raft Island, Washington. August 2-9, 2020. The camp offers programs in Hungarian music, dance, singing, and children’s folk arts. More information on Ti Ti Tábor can be found at tititabor.org.
Mainewoods Dance Camp – Information about the Mainewoods Dance Camp held in Fryeburg, Maine August-September can be found at mainewoodsdancecamp.org The camp features 2 one-week camps, usually the last two weeks of August. Dates for 2020 are August 16-22 and August 23-29. Check their website for updates and details about teachers.
Enon Valley Folk Dance Camp – Held in September every year at SNPJ Recreation Center in western Pennsylvania about an hour from Pittsburgh. The 2020 camp will be September 11-13. Information about staff will be available in the spring of 2020. Info: folkdancepittsburgh.com
World Camp – Founded in 1996 by co-directors Ahmet Luleci and Joe Graziosi this annual camp continues each year in September. Located near the town of Rock Hill, in the Catskill Mountains (90 miles NW of New York City. Bunkhouse-style cabins with a lake, swimming pool and attractive common buildings. Pourparler – This unique gathering of dance educators takes place at different locations around the U.S. each year and allows these educators to share and teach and commune with each other. These conferences are a function of the National Folk Organization and are typically held in the fall (September/November). Fall Folk Dance Camp will take place December 4-6, 2020, in a beautiful rural setting in Simi Valley, on the northern edge of Los Angeles county, California. This is an extension/continuation of Camp Hess Kramer that was held for many decades in Malibu, California. (That facility burned down in 2018). It’s a weekend of joyful friendship, dance parties, and comfortable motel style accommodations. Information about teaching staff for 2020 was not available as of February 2020. Website.
Kolo Festival – Takes place in San Francisco, California, the weekend of November 27 & 28, 2020 with Joe Graziosi – Greek & Pontic dances, Sonia Dion & Cristian Florescu – Romanian line & couple dance, John Filcich – Traditional kolos, John Morovich – Croatian dances.
